Harvested in Fayoum, Egypt

A legacy crop, black nigella seed has been cultivated for generations. Sourced from an organic farm in Egypt, ancient canal systems still divert the Nile’s waters to irrigate the fields. The delicate blue or white flowers bloom in the summer and seeds are then harvested from capsules of flowering plants and are sun-dried.


A flavour reminiscent of sweet roasted onions complemented by a vegetal sweetness. A slight bitterness with herbaceous notes, these seeds provide great flavour and texture to many dishes. Great on breads, hummus, cheeses or preserved lemons.
